Braun LS100 Vintage 3-Way Bookshelf Speakers - Rare and Special German Sound - Very Fine Condition!

Calling all fans of the ultra cool vintage audiophile speakers made in Frankfurt Germany by Braun. Here is a very rare model in nice condition, Braun's big 3-Way bookshelf speaker, the LS100. This pair has had just one previous audiophile owner since purchased new circa 1983. Although Braun exported small numbers of this line to Canada, very few found their way into the USA, but Magnolia HiFi of Seattle did have a small supply from neighboring Canada, and that was the original source for this pair.

The speakers are 18.75 inches tall, 11.5 inches wide, and 11 inches deep, with beveled edges and perforated metal grills. Into these relatively compact cabinets Braun packed a 10 inch woofer, a 2 inch textile dome midrange and a 3/4 inch cloth tweeter, for the kind of sound that normally would only come from much larger floorstanding towers. Unlike many designs from Braun (and from its US partner ADS) the domes on the tweeter and midrange are not coated. Likewise while many Braun and ADS speakers have a 4 ohm impedance rating, the LS100 is rated at 8 ohms, so you can use any amplification with this pair. They are rated for up to 100 watts of continuous power and 150 watts peak, and the crossover assemblies have fuse protection for both the mid and the tweeter in case you drive them too hard. The rated frequency response is 23Hz to 30 kHz.

All drivers as well as the crossovers, are working. The cosmetics are very good for a nearly 40 year old speaker (as the photos show), one speaker has a small nick along the right edge of the grill frame near the tweeter, for which we have included a close up photo. These rare and special vintage German speakers will be very well packed and are guaranteed to arrive as described and photographed, with no further guarantees made or return privilege.
