The new Local 2609. This is a tribute to my union brothers and sisters from Bethlehem Steel in MD. It's a Blues Breaker type of circuit with a little kicked up volume boost, and little bit of extra low end, and a toggle switch that jumps the gain up quite a bit. All of this adds up to a very versatile overdrive.
"SPS Pedals' newest creation, the Local 2609 is a Blues Breaker-style overdrive with a few tweaks to make it a bit more user-friendly. This transparent overdrive is actually a bit less transparent than its ancient relative. The sound features a slight bass and volume boost, to correct the issues that some found in classic Blues Breakers, where they would be slightly lower volume than unity with your amp. In its stock mode, the 2609 pedal is best used to add some serious sparkle to single-coil pickups. Using it as a slight boost with some dirt made my '70s Strat sound absolutely killer. As more of a transparent overdrive, it is perfectly fine, especially when used for single-note solos. I was surprised by how nice it was for sort of garage rock rhythm stuff too. However, there is another great built-in function, a toggle switch that leads to a boosted gain channel for more overdriven and distorted sounds. This was an awesome addition, as it really helps make the pedal more versatile while really beefing up the sound for riffs, chords, and hard-hitting double stops." - Matt Dunn of Ultimate-Guitar.com
