Frank Sinatra, Ella, Elvis, Elton John, Jimi, Duke, Ray, Janis, Ray Manzarek, Creedence, Canned Heat, Iron Butterfly, The Who, The Grateful Dead, The Cream, The Jeff Beck Band, Pink Floyd, Traffic, Sam Cooke, Fleetwood Mac, Cat Stevens, Getty Lee, Sammy Davis Jr., Alice Cooper, Bruce Springsteen, Frank Zappa and The Mothers of Invention, BB King, Albert King, Buddy Miles, Harvey Brooks, David Crosby, Sly and The Family Stone, The Velvet Underground and so many others may likely have enjoyed a moment or two with her (in the main auditorium or the Expo Hall). Most of which likely played this instrument while rehearsing (possibly live too). This fine instrument was originally produced in 1904 in piano-gloss black in New York (a custom finish at that time 'see included Steinway historical doc's') and donated to The Al Malaikah (Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium) in 1947 by the original owner or their estate. What I do know is that all of the greatest music legends of the 20th century played at The Shrine in Los Angeles. The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles had four utility pianos and only ONE Steinway utility/rehearsal piano between 1947 and until at least 2008 (and probably earlier though un-verifiable prior to 1947). Since 1947, there have been four utility pianos at the famed Al Malaikah (Shrine Auditorium) in Los Angeles. All were pretty beat-up but this one (the only Steinway) was the best of the bunch! In a huge purchase of much of their vintage inventory, I insisted The Steinway be included. They fought like hell but eventually caved. Nearly 20K invested in restoration with kudos to Bruce Stevens, Steve Schell and Phenoyd for their phenomenal dedication into the restoration of this fine and classic instrument. No silly's please. Not a problem to enjoy it for another decade. So please, serious only.
