About This Listing

(Sound File Video Attached)
Ludwig No. 402 Supraphonic 6.5x14" Aluminum Snare Drum with Large Chicago Keystone Badge 1984

This drum sounds incredible as expected and is in nice shape with common pitting, wear and tear, and all to be expected from a "Ludalloy" drum that's nearly 40 years old.  It is likely from 1984, the final year of the Ludwig Chicago factory, just before moving to Monroe, NC.  This was a transitional badge, it is large like the later Monroe badges, but it says "Chicago" and only happened during this roughly year-long period when they were using up what was left at the factory for orders.  It's often noted that the big badge is overlapped by the batter hoop since these shells were drilled for Blue and Olive Badges, and these badges sit higher.  Here are some details:

-Likely 1984 maybe 1985
-Ludalloy sticker is inside, but faded to a flat gray, no words can be seen.
-Common pitting, consistent on all panels of the drum.  But the chrome still shines and there are no major flake points.  This happens to all Supraphonics at some point due to the chrome not adhering well to aluminum.
-P-85 Throw functions, muffler functions.  throw, muffler, and butt plate are correct for the 80's, as also seen on late 70s drums.  Hoops are in good condition, chrome is pretty clean and shiny on the hoops.
-Pure Sound wires are installed, they sound great.
-Evans G2 Coated Level 360 batter head, relatively new.  Newer Remo clear snare side ambassador on the reso side.
-The drum has the standard 10 imperial lugs, clean with some light pitting.
-The drum has standard wear and tear, minimal scratching or cosmetic issues, other than the light pitting.
-Check out Sound File Video to hear it played

Wonderful drum, good condition, and a huge iconic sound!
