About This Listing

For your consideration is this beautiful 88'-89' Fender American Vintage '62 Fretless Jazz Bass in a Ocean turquoise finish and Rare Stamped Herbie Gastelum built neck.
Herbie Gastelum was to necks what “Queen of Tone” Abigail Ybarra was to pickups – the indisputable “King of Feel.” Do a Google search of him to learn more.

I believe this bass has had a few modifications and a professional refinish as I cannot find any evidence that this model came from Fender in this color. It is by far the best refinish I have ever seen with no trace of a different color that I can find. There are no dings or major scratches to be found. The photos don't get close to showing the true beauty of this finish.

The neck is Herbie Gastelum lined fretless fingerboard that  has a hard, polished epoxy finish that makes this board play more like a maple fingerboard and has a crisp and punchy tone. It sounds AMAZING!!

Gone is the stacked control panel. It is equipped with standard volume and tone controls that look period correct. The posts of two of the pots look to have been repaired but have no issues and work as they should.

This bass has had a complete professional set-up and is in perfect working order.

This bass came to me with no case. I am including the Fender vintage chainsaw with this listing.

Could this have been a custom order from Fender?? I certainly can't confirm that. What I can confirm is that if this bass has seen any work outside the Fender factory,  it was done by a professional that is very good at his or her craft.

This bass came to me with little to no information about its history. I am trying to be as honest and transparent I possible with the information and details within this listing. If you think you know anything  about this bass or can shed light as to its origins, please don't hesitate to contact me. I would love to get your input.
