About This Listing

Up for sale, a Dell’Arte John Kinnard acoustic electric gypsy guitar in near mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and paperwork. Handcrafted in San Diego for Dell’Arte by master luthier, John Kinnard, this acoustic is a stunning, incredibly well-built instrument. Featuring a rare all rosewood body framed by intricate multi-ply purfling, a mahogany neck with thick slab ebony fretboard, and onboard preamp, this Dell’Arte is an exquisitely crafted, sonically expressive top shelf instrument.

The all rosewood body and mahogany neck deliver an exceptionally rich midrange character with a deep resonance, while the smaller Petite Bouche soundhole and full 26 5/8" scale gives the guitar its characteristic snap. The ebony fretboard yields a glassy, immediate treble articulation, working in concert with the 11-48 flatwound strings for plenty of detail and individual note definition, with a broad dynamic range that can easily go from delicate, airy plucks, to engulfing, warm chords with singing harmonic content. The Dell’Arte weighs 4lbs 11oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with comfortable action.

The mahogany neck has a D shaped profile carve with prominent, rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .855” deep at the 1st fret and .890” at the 9th. The thick slab ebony fretboard is bound with rosewood, featuring pearl dot inlay and pristine stock slender fretwire. The fretboard boasts a zero fret, and the guitar plays effortlessly up the neck with a responsive and optimally adjusted truss rod. The scale length is 26 5/8”, and the stock bone nut measures 1 13/16" in width. The slotted headstock features a rosewood veneer, with pearl Dell’Arte inlay and stock gold three-on-a-side tuners with ivoroid buttons that turn smoothly and hold pitch well.

The ebony bridge sports a compensated, moveable center section for fine tuning. The body boasts rope marquetry on the top with additional purfling binding the back and sides, framing the straight, tight grain of the rosewood, and a detailed multi-ring rosette on the Petite Bouche soundhole. Visible through the soundhole, the original Dell'Arte label is present with model and serial details. Cosmetic wear is limited to faint scuffs in the pick path, with a few faint marks in the finish relegated to the treble side of the body on the lower bout. The neck profile is flawless with a smooth gloss finish.

The original hardshell case and factory paperwork is included.
