The Ibanez 2409B Black Eagle is a legendary bass, it marked a turning point for Ibanez who really began to offer something different to Fender and Gibson at the time and this bass first appeared in 1976 making this bass from the first production run. It has a Mahogany body with a laminated maple neck and a maple fretboard. It has two volume and and one tone control. The Black Eagle bass has got incredible looks with it's curved horns and one of kind headstock. The headstock on this one is completely intact and it is rare to find one which doesn't have the lower part glued on or missing. The bass is missing the original pick guard, but this does not detract from the look and vibe of this bass, if anything it makes it look more stealthy. The fretboard has the ultra cool banjo style inlays with cool looking symbols all the way down. The Ibanez Super Bass Single coil pick ups have a tremendous growl and deep sound which is very versatile and can be tailored to lots of different styles of music, but of course does rock and metal exceptionally well. Krist Novoselic is such a fan of these bases he has had at least four of them over the years, and used them right from the first rehearsals as can be seen on Nirvana's 'With The Lights Out' Box set DVD, in the studio right up until the bands last European tour and beyond in his bands such as Giants in the Trees. One of Krist's black Eagle basses with out the pick guard can be found in the Seattle Experience Music Project.

This bass is in great condition for its age. It does have some road worn dings and scratches here and there but this just adds to its character. The bass is exceptionally well made and very comfortable to play and hold. It is a real find to also have one with the original case, which looks awesome with the yellow lining and is curved like the bass with all the latches and handles intact and in working order. There was approximately only 500 of these basses originally made and this model also has the rare distinction of being one of the only times a vintage Ibanez model has been re issued in 2016.

Total bass Nirvana!
