From the Gretsch Family Archives; I believe this is a Rare one of a kind Gretsch Custom build somewhere between 1950-1970 my guess. In excellent condition for its age.
I just restrung her and she plays amazing. The neck pickup is pretty nice sounding very responsive through the clean channel of my Marshall. Surprisingly Low action, has a zero fret.
The Grover tuners and bridge I suspect are not original. The top is hand carved and is 1/4 or Riff sawn Sitka spruce with some amazing figure. This is certainly a one of a kind. Original case is included.
Marked “N-1” on inside below the top f-hole and and also marked Inside hand written in pencil “Gretsch Custom” and below that stamped- L 953 inside below the f hole that is below the pick gaurd. See pic.
15” across the widest part the body depth is 3-3/8” at the neck end and 3-5/8 at the lower end.
