About This Listing

Premier Signia 5 piece drum set.  From around 1992.  4 toms and 1 bass drum.  Cherrywood / Cherry wood lacquer color.

If you're looking at this you most likely know what they are all about!  Premier's top of the line at that time.  Their first all maple shells.  Special lug-mounted suspended tom mounts allow them to sing for days.

Includes 8", 10", 13" and 15" mounted toms and 16x22 bass drum.  Typical "fusion" style and sizes that was king at that time.  Has the tom mount in the bass drum but this set came with a rack system, so no double tom mount or stands here.  The 8" tom is pretty hard to find, and the 15" is a little rare as well.

Condition is overall a 7 or 8 out of 10 for something around 30 years old.  The 8 and 10" toms have a bit of tom rash that I tried to show in the pics.  The owner before me (who gigged with this set a bunch, he said) seems to have touched it up well enough with a good matching paint or marker but the touched up areas of course don't have the same gloss to them.  From 10 feet away, you don't even see it, especially in a stage lighting situation.  The other 2 toms don't have issues worth noting wood finish-wise except the standard scuffs and love bumps that are typical of a used set.

Bass drum hoops have a couple of scratched spots that show the wood underneath, and I also tried to show those in some close up pics.  More on the batter side (and of course the bass drum pedal clamping on area).  Not sure which were done by me and which were the previous guy, but it was interesting that he didn't touch up anything except that rash on the 2 upper toms and left some of the other dings on the set in natural color.  Looks easy enough to touch up if you know what you're doing but I never really cared or sought out the cherry wine color stain.  There are some scuffs and rubbed areas mainly on the top of the bass drum that I didn't want to try to do anything to, not being a woodworking/lacquer expert.

Hardware is typical of 30 years old and has a bit of speckled appearance in some areas.  This is also shown in some of the pictures.  It seems most of it is on the bass drum bottom lugs/spurs and the 15" tom's bottom hoop has some pitting/rusting (can always buy a new hoop for cheap).  A couple of the bass drum tension rod wing handles have some rash on their front "faces" which you can also see a close up of in the pics.  Nothing that is scratched through the chrome though.

Bearing edges all look great to my eyes.

I tried to be detailed and objective about any potential issues in the hardware or the wood finish and showed close ups of each of these things.  If you need any additional pictures of any specific areas I can add those.  Some dudes include like 2 full-kit pictures only, and show no details of the finish or hardware super close up.  Of course most drum sets look great from a full kit setup standpoint.  I just don't want anyone to ever be disappointed or think I failed to mention details of the condition so I probably have gone overboard on the photos.

Heads on the toms are Remo Diplomats (Phil Collins style!).  Bottoms are black Evans Resonant.  Remo Power Sonic on the bass drum batter.  Front head is Evans EQ3 Resonant.  Yes, there is some funny looking gaffers tape on 3 of the toms to cut a bit of the sustain/volume for a gig situation a couple years back.  Didn't want to peel it off and leave ugly dried adhesive.  But you'll make this your own and trash these heads eventually anyway, right?!

I've seen similar 3 and 4 tom-plus-kick Signia sets listed on here and Ebay over the past couple years (although I almost never see an 8" tom!).  The range seems to vary wildly between $1000 to $3500, of course depending a lot on condition.  There was a 6 piece maple (topaz) colored set on Ebay listed at $8,500!!?  And not even any rare size toms in there.  If you're looking at my ad you've probably seen all of this anyway.

It should be obvious but I need to state it to be sure....only the 4 toms and the bass drum are included.  Nothing else from that first picture is part of this listing.  I don't have any extra stands or mounts to provide.  And most likely you'll have your own mounting scheme you'll want to do anyway, whether that's on stands or on a drum rack.

I figured a national audience was best so I'm trying Reverb.  Although it would be great if someone from Ohio, Indiana, or Illinois wanted to meet halfway to do the exchange from Detroit.  I don't mind driving a bit, so if you're in one of those states (or Michigan of course) let's talk and figure something out.   A while back I did ship a drum set to myself from Florida back home to Michigan without issue so I know how to pack a full set properly and safely.  The toms will be nested inside the bass drum like Russian nesting dolls with padding between.  Some hardware will probably have to come off to allow the tight fit (and you'll reinstall it when received).

I estimate high around $200 for shipment to the continental U.S. (only) including a ton of padding and box supplies, but I'll refund the difference if I'm way off on that.  These maple tubs are HEAVY, and all that thick chromed hardware isn't very light either!

Thanks for looking and reading this far.  Let me know if I can answer any questions or further explain the condition.
