About This Listing

This is an Ibanez TS9B Bass Tube Screamer overdrive pedal in very good condition. The TS9B was designed to give bass players the same, smooth, soft-clipped overdrive as their electric guitar-playing brethren. But it has a feature-set that specifically benefits the bottom end.

Unlike the standard 3-knob Tube Screamer, the TS9B has an expanded 5-knob layout, to meet the needs of bass players. Here's the rundown on those five controls:
  • DRIVE: This is the input gain of the TS9B circuit. You could keep the DRIVE low and use the pedal as a clean boost. But what you really want to do is to crank up that DRIVE knob and soak in that warm organic overdrive.
  • MIX: This is a clean-blend knob. With the knob all the way to the left, the pedal passes clean signal. As you turn the knob clockwise, it blends in your overdriven signal. This is great for getting that thick compressed overdrive, while keeping your attack and dynamics in place.
  • BASS: This adds or cuts low-end frequencies.
  • TREBLE: This adds or cuts high-end frequencies.
  • LEVEL: This is the output volume of the pedal. Once you've set the amount of DRIVE that you want, you can set this for unity gain with your dry signal. Or you can crank the LEVEL to boost your tube amp into thick natural overdrive.
This Bass Tube Screamer is in excellent condition. The electronics work perfectly. All of the pots, jacks, and switches are clean and quiet. You can power this pedal with a 9-volt battery, a Boss PSA-style AC/DC adapter, or your standard 9-volt pedalboard power supply.
