This thing sounds completely crazy when animated using a CV source, metallic ring modulated sounds, super slow delays, rising and falling feedback and delay times. We are amazed every time what comes out, it's just insane in the best possible way!
Circuitbenders LTC1799 Reclocking circuit installed with manual pot control of clock speed.
Vactrol circuit installed for CV control input over clock speed. Many crazy animations of reverb sound, delay time, even melodies from the clock speed are possible! (depending on CV source)
Using an authentic Xvive vactrol, the input is calibrated for +15v max. This is normal eurorack standard, so the CV input can be used with pretty much all equipment, vintage and modern alike.
Diode (LED) input, so negative voltages can not harm the system (they don't pass the diode, so have no effect on the clock speed)
See video for sound examples and explanation of mods. The mods are very simple, and neatly installed. I have added labels for clear use, however they are not essential. The labels can easily be removed with no residue if you prefer the look without.
Sometimes the unit can become a little confused if you turn it off and on again (particularly with low clock speed) Be patient, and slowly select a new preset: after a couple of turns, he will start DSPing again. It's because the system clock is running very slowly, it takes a while to react at first boot.
This is absolutely normal for a reclocked device.
Offers considered though bear in mind the mods cost money to buy, and time to install. As far as we know, this is the only version (CV control) of this mod available at the moment. We have been modding and repairing/refurbishing synths and FX for 15 years. The work is carried out to a very high standard.
