Lovely set neck les Paul made by Matsumoku for Aria in 1981
- Two piece mahogany body
- maple cap
- set neck(long tennon)
- three piece neck
- Rosewood fingerboard
- seventies style volute
- Original Aria Pro II Gotoh tuners
- with a rather fetching tobacco burst finish.
Original maxon pickup in the neck with a Japanese replacement pickup in the bridge, it came in this way and I am unsure of the make of the bridge pickup as it is unbranded
Interestingly enough this does not have the open book headstock(it has a dimple in the middle), it does have the correct Les Paul body shape though.
The pickup selector is also in a different place, SG style so to speak! It has had 3 extra switches/holes added to the top for coil tapping, these have been disconnected but the switches/holes remain.
It’s been played a lot so has a lot of wear, ie usual scrapes dents and dings, quite a few cracks to the finish on the body and the neck(and the headstock-see last photo) , the neck is rock solid and straight!
All of the above is reflected in the price!
It is after all a set neck les Paul with decent wood, perfect for modding or you can just play it as is, it does sound great acoustically or plugged in!
The early ‘80’s is pretty much the peak of Japanese guitar manufacturering, this is one of the good ones!
The sale does not include the hard case(message me if you want one)
