Here for sale is a Fender Stratocaster in Black from 1991 that was made in Japan. This is part of the same production run with the same K serial number that yielded Kurt Cobain's famous Japanese Vandalism "beautiful as a rock in cops face" Stratocaster. It has been upgraded to be the same as Kurt Cobain's famous guitar with a Seymour Duncan '59 pick up installed in the bridge position. I no longer have the original pick up but this upgrade sounds huge and makes this guitar a powerhouse Stratocaster. The middle and neck pick ups are original.
Kurt Cobain's neck on his black Vandalsim strat was snapped off and replaced with a Kramer neck, but the Fender neck on this guitar, is the type Kurt's would have originally had. It has a great C shape profile and is very comfortable to play. The guitar weighs approx 3.560 KG and is in overall good condition for its age. There is a few dings and scratches you would expect on such a playable guitar. The most notable being a tiny finish crack in the neck pocket which is common with Fender's. There are a couple of small scratch below the bridge, some tiny scratches below the lower the pick guard on the lower horn and some play wear on the pickguard as well as a couple of neat holes when the pick up was installed where three holes were drilled instead of two. This all adds to the look of the guitar, just check out Kurt's to see all the roadworn glory on his Strat! You could also complete the look with a Vandalism sticker which are pretty easy to find.
The guitar has a wonderful tone and power and can be heard to full effect in the footage and audio to Nirvana's halloween 1991 gig at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle, where this model Stratocaster model was used. You can hear Kurt using the guitar in the bridge position through the Seymour Duncan JB for songs such as Aneurysm and Breed and then in the neck position for mellower songs such as Polly. An overall exceptionally cool and rare strat that is from the same run as Kurt Cobain's legendary guitar.
