About This Listing

This 1970s Rickenbacker 4001 Bass with Checkerboard Binding is a rare vintage find. Not only is this bass a classic, but has a ton of rock history behind it. Tesla, is an iconic American rock band based out of Sacramento, CA that has been rockin’ since the ‘80s. Tesla bassist, Brian Wheat, has decided to sell his private collection of basses and guitars. Wheat recently published his new autobiography book titled, “Son of a Milkman: My Crazy Life with Tesla”. Still in prime condition and in excellent working order, it’s perfect for any aspiring musician, super Tesla fan, or rock music collector. Wheat would like to note that, this Rickenbacker was used on the, “Psychotic Supper” and “Bust A Nut” albums. It is also known as Mapleglo, it features a neck-through-body and a 33 1/4’’ scale. The neck has a fairly full C shaped profile with a smooth gloss finish and the headstock features the original Rickenbacker logo. This bass was a favorite of many rock music legends. Included with the bass is a certificate of authenticity (COA) hand signed by Wheat himself and a photo of Wheat with the bass in his studio.  Upon request, Wheat can sign the guitar and we can send a video of Wheat sending a special message to you when purchased.  The provided serial number of this bass is L1916 for your reference. The asking price of this legendary vintage piece is $6,750. Please feel free to contact me with any further questions you may have and I will be happy to answer them.
