The Fairbanks F-20 comes as close as you can, in a new guitar, to the powerful, punchy tone of an 80 year old Gibson. But, it's better in many ways.

Dale Fairbanks is one of the true Kings of the New Golden Age of the acoustic guitar. His work is inspired by many of the great vintage designs of the 1920's, 30's and 40's. He is one of the few that takes the early Gibson and Stella designs and makes them even better than the old designs.

The original owner, who custom ordered it through me, says:

"This guitar could almost be sold as “brand new”.  I have only played it enough to check playability and the two pickup systems. All work great and the guitar is set up fantastic for fingerstyle and light flatpicking (like later Norman Blake). If you’re a hard player the action may be too low but I’ve played all over the neck with no issues. However, in checking it out I, somehow, put a small superficial scratch in the finish. You can see it, ½” off the neck side of the pickguard close to the sound hole. Aside from that the guitar is mint.

"So why am I selling? Around the time I ordered this from Dale I was having problems with my right hand. I had surgery and was sure I’d be back to playing with PT, however I have sadly not recovered. I am able to flatpick but fingerstyle almost always results in pain and/or numbness. Therefore I am selling my guitars that I used primarily for fingerstyle.

"This guitar has two pickup systems, with a separate output jack for each one. This was so I could play the Deltoluxe through a tube amp (great for Lightnin' Hopkins!) and use the K & K Trinity for Rags and such though an acoustic amp – easy to switch back and forth at gigs. The Trinity system sounds fantastic and the preamp is included in addition to the internal mic and internally mounted transducers. It comes with a TRS cable but it is fairly short.

"If you don’t want the Deltoluxe, it should be pretty easy to remove by unscrewing it from the inside at the jack plug.

"Stored in case when not in use and has not left my smoke free home since I received it. I have a music room where I monitor temp and humidity and humidity is almost always 35-45%. If it dips below 30 I run a humidifier and it rarely spends much time over 50%. I’ve had guitars for over 10 years without having to adjust truss rod and they always play great!

This guitar, if ordered now, with the torrified Adirondack top upgrade and pickup systems would cost $6500, or more.
