About This Listing

2007 Limited Edition Brazilian Series McCarty Soapbar

I contacted PRS and was given the following details:
  • Maple top
  • Mahogany back and neck
  • Brazilian rosewood fingerboard and headstock overlay
  • Wide Fat neck carve
  • Goldtop finish
  • Pink heart abalone birds and signature
  • The word "Brazilian" is inlayed on the face of the headstock in green abalone ripple
This guitar was from the limited run of Brazilian Series McCarty guitars that came out in 2003. This guitar was mid-production when the project was shut down due to a worldwide inquiry on Brazilian rosewood. Once the paperwork was cleared, they completed the run of 500 guitars.

Here are a few other details:
  • 8.30 lbs.
  • 0.866″ at the 1st fret
  • 0.946″ at the 12th fret
  • Includes original hard shell case, truss rod tool, allen wrench
The finish is clouded in a few places. That's a little difficult to see in the photos. There are some imperfections in the finish along the edge of the fretboard, but it's not flaky and doesn't affect the playability. The finish is chipped away on the upper horn where the strap button is located. The finish is also chipped away on the lower horn. All of those finish imperfections should be visible in the photos. There is very minor buckle rash, a few small dents and scratches, and a scratch in the gold top finish. With the exception of the buckle rash, you should see all of that in the photos. Finally, when opening the case, it doesn't stop at 90-degrees... it opens a bit further than expected, but the hinges appear to be in good shape. No case key is included.

Despite its flaws, this guitar is in great shape, plays well, and sounds fantastic. I just have my heart set on a Gibson Custom Shop Historic 1956 Les Paul Reissue. I'm going to use the money from this sell toward that purchase.

Please do not hesitate to ask questions. I'll entertain reasonable offers, but please do keep in mind we get eaten alive with fees. If you're local to the Memphis metropolitan area, I will be listing this locally as well.
