About This Listing

Chet Atkins was at the forefront of the Nashville Music Industry from the late '50s to mid '90s and helped develop the "Nashville Sound" that threw country music into the successful market that it is today. He is well known as one of the most influential guitar players that has ever lived. Many guitar models were produced with his name on them but this one was a special model that became a versatile instrument that many players would enjoy!

This guitar model was developed by Chet Atkins who approached Gibson with his prototype. The model appeared in Gibson’s catalog in 1982, right at the time when Dire Straits recorded the Love over Gold album. Not long after that Mark Knopfler started to play it on stage for the Love over gold tour. The body is not all solid mahogany but features sound chambers to reduce weight and to make the sound more acoustic. The top is solid spruce. The neck is mahogany with a neck joint location at the 12th fret – like a classical guitar. The scale is 25 1/2″, the fingerboard is from ebony & the bridge is made of Rosewood.

The pickup system is the Piezo Electric Transducer system that features a volume and tone control for maximum versatility while playing

This Pre-Owned Guitar is in Good Condition w/ ding, scratches and finish cracks throughout the entire instrument. There is some aftermarket padding that has been added to the butt near the end pin & there is some leftover residue from the bottom side of the guitar where a pad once was.
