About This Listing

(Please message me before purchasing)

Up for sale, a 2004 Fender Telecaster '68 vintage reissue Beck Signature model in near mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with an upgraded Fender USA pickup pair. Perhaps surprisingly, this guitar is neither a signature model for Jeff Beck nor Beck Hansen, instead commemorating the Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Harold Sakuishi. The series follows Yukio "Koyuki" Tanaka and his rock band's struggle to fame, and Koyuki plays a Tele just like this one in the series. This guitar is quite rare, offered only within Japan and rarely seen outside its country of origin. Featuring an ash body with a satin transparent Butterscotch Blonde finish, dark rosewood fretboard on the one-piece maple neck, medium jumbo fretwire, and upgraded Fender USA pickup pair, this Beck Telecaster has a clear smooth acoustic voice with plenty of snappy cut and twang. The guitar weighs 7lbs 8oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The neck has a modestly chunky C shaped profile carve with rounded shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .860" deep at the 1st fret and tapering gently to .955" at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard is a particularly dark and tight-grained cut, and the original medium jumbo fretwire is intact, showing moderate wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-4, with lighter wear on the crowns extending until fret 7 and virtually no wear further up the fretboard. The scale length is a full 25 1/2", the fretboard radius matches vintage spec at 7 1/4", the nut is carved from bone for optimal articulation and sustain, measuring 1 5/8" in width. The headstock features a block Tele logo and Fender F tuners which turn smoothly with gleaming chrome plating.

The electronics function as intended, with a pair of USA Fender '52 Telecaster pickups with black fiber bobbins, alnico magnets, and a brass baseplate on the bridge pickup. The chrome hardware is clean as can be save for light patina on the bridge base. The satin Butterscotch Blonde finish showcases the broad grain of the ash body and is subtly accented by the original three-ply pickguard, with cosmetic wear limited to one small nick on the lower bout top edge and a couple additional tiny nicks at the waist of the slab body on the sides. The neck profile is flawless.

The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
