About This Listing

This extremely rare Fender Stratocaster 25th Anniversary from 1979 (first run, #416 out of 500 produced) is a guitar for the true collector. It's been preserved beautifully. There are only a handful worldwide that still have the original Pearl White finish!

The History
In 1979, Fender launched the Pearl White 25th Anniversary Stratocaster; the top notch Fender model that was produced for a limited run of 500 pieces worldwide. Serial number: 250XXX where XXX is the production number between 1 and 500.
The lacquer was very expensive, and Fender marketed it as being the most luxurious guitar around, built with the highest possible quality standards.

However, after a few weeks, the lacquer just fell off of these guitars. It appeared to be shit!!

Fender therefore offered the 500 customers to have their guitar stripped and refinished in silver. Nearly all owners of 25th Anniversary Stratocasters did this. However, a handful of Strats were not "fixed" and therefore still have the original lacquer (or what is left of it, as they are so terribly fragile).

This is one of them, and nearly all the lacquer is still there! It has lived its life in the original case. Therefore it was preserved beautifully.

After the first run of 500 that this particular guitar belongs to, other 25th Anniversary Strats were built and finished in silver (later known as Porsche Silver). We're talking about another 10,000 extra guitars. Occasionally, you will see a 25th Anniversary for sale on-line. But one from the first run, like this one, is very rare. And it is even more extraordinary that it still has the original finish!

The Guitar
Apart from the lacquer, obviously, the guitar is in excellent condition. Everything is original and practically untouched. It sounds amazingly. Especially considering the average late '70s Fender quality this is simply a superb guitar. The weight is not terrible either; 4,1 kg. Of course this is rather heavy for a Strat, but again, considering average late '70s Fender standards, 4,1 kg is below average!
And most importantly... 4 BOLT NECK!!

The Case
The case is all original and very solid. Great protection to the guitar. It includes all the case candy:
- Certificate of Merit (no. 416 of 500)
- Owner's manual
- Polish cloth
- Tremolo bar
- Ash tray
- Case key

Everything is in great condition!
