A true "modern" vintage Neumann, this mic was released in 1988, a year before the Neumann family sold their stock to Sennheiser, which owns Neumann today.  This Neumann mic is in excellent functional and cosmetic condition. It is every bit the “vintage” small diaphragm condenser mic with the AK 45 cardioid pattern capsule. It looks near new for its age with the exception of an ID number etched in gold on the very bottom of the mic.

Quoting from Vintage Microphone World, "The KM 100 system was never meant to sell in great numbers, but can stil be found secondhand, they are wonderful modern vintage, sometimes even preferred over the Schoeps CMS range, for their silky smooth sound. They excel on piano, acoustical guitar, as spot- or room-mic, and also wonderful as a stereo pair , for recordings; small but great! These may very well be the last Neumanns where cutting costs was not on the mind of the designers, only the sound quality mattered."
For more on the KM 100 series see their brochure here -

KM 145

The KM 145 was part of the KM 100 series, Neumann’s first modular small diaphragm microphone system. The KM 145 combines the KM 100 output stage with the cardioid capsule AK 45, whose built-in low cut compensates the proximity effect.

AK 45 is a pressure gradient transducer with cardioid characteristic, similar to the AK 40. However, it has an acoustic bass roll-off that is useful during applications when subsonic and low frequencies may cause difficulties. The AK 45 is optimized for a flat low frequency response at a recording distance of 15 cm (“speech cardioid”).
