About This Listing

Up for sale, a 2004 Fender Jazzmaster '62 reissue electric guitar in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Crafted in Japan and rarely seen outside its country of origin, this Jazzmaster has a broad range of vintage-flavored tonalities with a saturated three-tone Sunburst gloss finish and alder body. A textbook example of everything we love about the Jazzmaster, the instrument has plenty of twang and sparkle on tap, with a range of defined and powerful tones from the two single coil pickups, and warm, wooly sounds when switched to the Rhythm Circuit on the guitar's lower body horn. Particularly lightweight at 7lbs 10oz, this Jazzmaster balances well on a strap and has a smooth, clear acoustic voice. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, this Jazzmaster is dialed in for low action and accurate intonation with 11-49 roundwound strings.

The amber-tinted maple neck has a modestly slender C shaped profile carve with lightly rolled fretboard edges and a bit more shoulder and roundness in the higher registers, measuring .820” deep at the 1st fret and .935” at the 12th. The thick rosewood fretboard has dot inlay and original slender vintage-style frets that retain their full factory height with well-rounded crowns and virtually no wear. The scale length is a full 25 1/2", the fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4" radius, and the nut measures just shy of 1 11/16" in width (1.660"). The headstock sports a Pre-CBS style "Spaghetti" Jazzmaster logo, with Kluson-style tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The "Crafted in Japan" text and R-prefix serial number are present just above the four-bolt neck plate.

All of the electronics work as they should, and the chrome hardware has plenty of shine, with just a speckling of patina on the plating and across the saddles. The vibrato unit works smoothly and engages easily for quick warbles and surfy dives, working in concert with the stock bridge. The plastic parts are quite clean too, with a dark reddish brown tortoise pickguard and white pickup covers and knobs that show sparingly little aging. Cosmetic wear on the alder body is limited to a few isolated dings and light finish scratches on the body as a whole, with one finish chip on the treble-side waist back edge.

The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.

***We are dealers for the Mastery M2 bridge and Offset Vibrato, Lollar pickups, and G&G hardshell cases, any or all of which can be installed or included prior to shipment for an additional charge***
