1919 Martin/Ditson Style 1-45. There were only four of these made, and this is the last of the four. Over the years, early 1970's till the mid 2000's, I have been lucky enough to have had all four of these gems in my hands, and photos with them as well. Three were for sale over those years, and I was close on two of them, but sadly, no bananas, so I have this one to call my own, and happy to have it. Since the last time I studied my guitar listing here, I have come to learn from some lost Martin Correspondence, that three of the Martin/Ditson 1-45's had been sent back to Martin for re-top because of cracks. I knew that the one that Martin/Ditson 1-45 that Martin has in its museum had been re-topped, but had no idea that two other had also been re-topped. After looking at the serial numbers of those re-topped, I noticed that mine was not among them. My 1-45 is the only Martin/Ditson 1-45 that was not re-topped. I am forever grateful to my dear and super good friend, Robert Corwin, who shared this info with me recently. Contact me with any questions.
