Aria Pro II PE180 from 1980
Solid sitka spruce top, maple back and sides. Mother of pearl inlays. Ebony fretboard. Original AL- 7 pick ups.
It was built with a level of quality and attention to detail that puts it in a class all its own, way ahead of other Japanese competitors of the era.The neck construction is a three pieces maple laminated with walnut strips. The profile is a full, C shape with generous shoulders and increased depth in the higher registers of the fretboard.
The 20 fret ebony fretboard boasts multi-ply binding with fret nibs in the traditional Gibson fashion. The fretboard is inlaid with the split mother of pearl blocks familiar to Super 400 fans, and the inlay work is exceptional.
Built in 1980 at the Matsumoku factory in Japan, this "lawsuit era" vintage archtop is one of a few highly collectible models produced to faithfully replicate the features and exquisite playability of Gibson's top tier Super 400 and L-5 CES models.
