About This Listing

1980 Boss DS-1 Distortion Pedal - Long Dash, Silver Screw, MIJ Black Label - Vintage Effects Pedal

Up for sale is the holy grail of distortion pedals. These don’t come up for sale very often at this price and when they do they tend to be snapped up by collectors.  Have a look at my other auction for more Boss DS-1 pedals.

This pedal has everything that any collector would want, the silver screw, D under the t, long dash, Made in Japan black label, and its serial number 9400 dates it to May 1980, so it's a very very early example.

The Boss DS-1 needs no introduction. It's the most iconic Boss pedal and one of the most recognisable pedals in existence. For guitarists, it's a right of passage to own a DS-1, and nearly every guitarist has a story about theirs.

This pedal is very clean for its age, and has never been mounted on a pedal board. Yes there are scrapes and chips along its edges, but that’s quite normal for most pedals that are used.

These early pedals produce a distortion sound that is to die for and many guitarists swear that the older Japan made pedals sound better than the newer ones made in Taiwan. Many great players have used and voiced their praise of this pedal.

These early Boss DS-1 pedals are an all-time favorite among guitarists and is an effect every guitar player should have on their pedalboard. They are built like a tank and have a very low noise level compared to other distortion pedals.

So it’s a rare and great classic and would grace anyone’s pedal board. Don’t miss out on this gem as they don’t come up for sale often.

I have only ever used it with a 9v battery, but early Boss pedals use a Boss ACA power supply, which is not the same as the newer PSA supply. .

Please have a really good look at the photos as they form part of the description and show you the general condition of the pedal and give you a good visual indication of what you are buying.

Also please remember to ask all questions before bidding.
