Amp was recently at Mesa in Petaluma. Complete Service by Mike Bendinelli. He did the R2 Mod. Fully serviced, updated, Tested and caps replaced. All new MESA Preamp tubes installed.

Few side notes:
Amp was recently sent to Mesa in Petaluma, CA for service. All work was performed by Mike B. There was absolutely no issue with the amp. I sent it in for service due to its age. Just a normal maintenance service to make sure its 100% , and I had the R2 mod done while it was there. There has never been a single issue with this amp.

I’m the 2nd owner, bought it from the original owner. It's part of my collection that never leaves the house.

R2 mod gives you a volume control on Rhythm mode. Which is basically a crunch mode for clean channel. Without this mod, when you click on the Rhythm 2 channel you’ll experience a slight volume loss on a stock non modded mark 3. Very nice, almost mandatory Mod that’s very helpful if your using the amp as a 3 channel amp. Once you get the desired amount of boost set, you never need to touch that knob. (which is why it works really well on the back of the amp)

Purple stripe is the 2nd version of the Mark 3. After the black stripe, and before the Red stripe. It’s the warmest, darkest , chunkiest voicing of all of the Mark III. And has the best clean channel and reverb you’ll find on a MKIII.

When you send an amp to Mike Bendinelli at Mesa. He checks every connection, Pot, tube, socket, reverb tank and loop, fan, resistor, cap, switch... he goes through every single detail of the amp and gets it road ready. Rebuilds pots to value, cleans and reworks connections, replaces any questionable parts, hand selects and tests preamp tubes for the best performance lineup, etc. etc. He is the best of the best. When you get your amp back from Mike it’s 100% good to go for another 30 years.

MKIII SimulClass amps are rated at 75 watts.
Class A (power switch in down position)is 15 watts using the outer set of tubes. which can either be EL34 or 6L6 type. They come stock with EL34 in these sockets.
Inner set is 60 watts, same as the boogie super sixty power section. and only uses 6L6 type tubes.
Combined (SimulClass: power switch in up position) you get 75 watts of crushing power using all four power tubes.
Some people prefer to use 6L6 in all four sockets which is awesome and sounds just as good.... just a little different.

This amp is considered a DRG:
D= SimulClass (H= would be a hundred 100/60 watt ; S would be a super sixty 60 watt )
R= Reverb
G= Graphic EQ

This amp is dated 1/87', handwritten in sharpie and initialed MB near the tube sockets. Was most likely built in late 86'. 1/87' would be the final test date.

This amp is the Long, wide or widebody head. the biggest difference is the reverb knob and power switch are on the front of the amp. The short heads put the power switch on the back top right corner, and the reverb knob is on the back next to the presence knob.
This amp is 23-1/2" wide, same exact size as the mesa 2X12" vertical cabs, old or new.

Mike B. has been looking to retire for the last 5 years or so.
He has now stopped doing mods and extensive work like the "+" mod, "++" and B+ loop mod last month.
Now he is only offering general service.
