Original vintage crazy rare “Ampeg” branded Burns split sound jazz guitar, complete with original ampeg diamond tolex case. These amazing axes were more commonly marketed under the Burns, or Baldwin moniker, but a few original Ampeg models still surface from time to time.

Burns threw everything at this flagship solid body model, designed to compete in the fender jazzmaster and Stratocaster market, including some cool, gretschy touches like the van Ghent tuners and zero fret, and every wacky custom, kitchen sink appointment R&D could dream up, including custom vibrato system, “split sound” pickups, and the unique tone selector with “mad dog!!!”

The result was a thoroughly unique, and really quite lovely instrument, and a grail among vintage collectors.

This one plays particularly nice, and has been well looked after over the years. The neck is straight and true, frets excellent, and she’s a blast to play. The original vibrato system, with bigsby arm hangs ten, and the split sound pickups are hot and spanky.

Cosmetically, she’s very nice indeed, with a sweet, rich, honeyed patina, and plenty of mojo and light finish and play wear, all included at no extra charge. Enjoy!
