Here's a cool one-off hybrid guitar, combining the comfortable curves of a Jazzmaster, a Telecaster shape and control plate with Seymour Duncan pickups and a Tune-o-matic bridge. The Matte Trans Red Stain finish with the Tri Level Red Tortoise Pick Guard looks even better in person.
These Seymour Duncan pickups are incredibly versatile and can handle any musical application - the Bridge is routed with a Seymour Duncan P-Rails Hot with a Seymour Duncan Triple Shot that has been Coil Tapped, so you are able to switch from Humbucker mode, P-90 mode, Single Coil, In Phase, out of Phase, you name it. The Neck sports a Seymour Duncan Phat Cat P-90. The Phat Cat gives the focused mid bite and unique attack of a P-90 instrument routed for humbuckers. Those have two Alnico 2 bar magnets to give you more sustain and a compressed attack, while the metal covers provide more shielding and noise reduction than standard soapbar covers. Overall both pups are very articulate and sit incredibly well on any mix I tried them in.
With the classic Tele style control plate, you have the 3 way blade pick up selector and the single tone and single volume controls. Pulling the the tone knob switches the bridge pick-up to out of phase.
Neck is bolt on (5 bolts), hard Maple with a Satin finish, and a comfortable thin C shape, 42mm nut width and a Neck Radius of 13.7"/350mm.
Body: Swamp Ash, shape Jazzcaster/Telemaster/offset Telecaster/Thicket.
Finish: Matte Trans Red Stain
Pick guard: Tri Level Red Tortoise (light pick wear)
Tuners: Locking tuners
Scale length: 25.5″
Number of frets: 22
Weight: 9.75 lbs.
Frets: Medium jumbo, no fret wear
No issues with the neck or the truss rod, professionally set up with Dunlop 10's with low action and plays great. The truss rod is adjustable from the bottom of the neck.
Cosmetic issues: At the bottom of the neck joint, after the 22nd fret, there is an imperfection with the binding against the neck (see pic). There are two small dings on the back of the neck (see pictures), but are not felt when playing (this is easy to fix if it bothers someone). There was some fret work also by the original owner that left small marks on the binding on some frets, which is only cosmetic (see pictures), not felt when playing.
Never gigged, used only for recordings on my smoke free studio.
Will include a nicely padded J&D Guitars soft case for the shipping.
