About This Listing

This is a used/vintage Boss MA-1 Mascot Amplifier. It is a small battery powered guitar amp/headphone amp. It can also be used with headphones or even to drive a speaker cabinet (although it will eat batteries alive when using it to drive large speakers.)

While it can produce a lot of self noise when turned up a lot, it actually can be used as a nice little boost in front of a small amp or amp-in-a-box type pedal. Usually about 3/4 volume or so.

The line input is nice as well, seems to make a little darker tone than the guitar in, so that’s also an option.

It would be hard to say this thing sounds “great” on it’s own. It has a very tiny speaker. It’s not going to do much. The speaker in this one has a slight buzz to it like there might be a small tear in the cone or surround on the speaker itself- BUT it does work! I mean at 40 some years old, it’s gonna show some age.

The unit still has the belt-clip however the battery cover is missing. This would be a great player’s piece rather than collector’s piece.
