About This Listing

We offer this really vibey vintage lap steel guitar from Magnatone. Magnatone was an outgrowth of the Dickerson company which had been making electric lap steel guitars ever since they started making electric instruments in the 1930s.  This model known as the "Varsity" has a pearloid finish which Magnatone made through 1959 and virtually all the examples of similar instruments that we found on the net appear to be from the 1950s. This lap steel is in good vintage condition with nicely working electronics that create a real monster slide tone.  The instrument appears all-original including the Kluson style tuners.  There is an expected amount of wear and tarnish and small marks and a significant amount of scratching on the underside, but it remains very attractive and desirable.  It comes with what we believe to be its original hard case.  The case is in fair condition with many small fabric tears but the handle and latches all work so the case remains serviceable.
