About This Listing

OK, this is about as sad and scary as it gets. This is an original 1968 Fender Telecaster body and neck that has been ravaged by termites. Yup termites, I have never seen anything like this is my many years of buying guitars. It would actually be cool if it wasn't so tragic. So here what I know, when I got the guitar it was all together and strung up and actually played pretty well. The lead pickup sounded OK and the rhythm pick up was missing, the controls were a mess as were most of the other metal parts. I took the thing completely apart hoping to be able to do something with it but I just don't have the time right now. The parts are no longer available so this is all that is left. I actually had a luther friend look it over and he said the way to salvage the neck is to use woodworkers resin to fill the voids. It can be injected with a syringe and will fill any void and dry hard. The headstock it where the main damage is and there are a couple of spots on the side and the heal of the neck. The neck still has the original finish and neck stamp (if that matters at this point) and has a nice feel, it's a C shape and on the wider side. The body is actually pretty cool as is it, kind of a Barncaster on steroids. It looks like the guitar was originally Olympic White but it has been brushed over (along with the headstock) with some kind of heavy paint to stop the spread of termites. To be clear THERE ARE NO LONGER ANY TERMITES IN THE NECK OR BODY. This happened about 20 years ago and the guitar had been sitting since then. It is an original 1968 Fender Bigsby body with it's original 1968 Fender Telecaster neck.
