The Taylor 214ce features their Grand Auditorium body style, which is a slightly smaller body that is similar to the classic dreadnought shape of the 210 model, yet delivers that characteristic big dreadnought tone. While the bigger Dreadnought was traditionally considered a flatpickerÎs guitar and the smaller Grand Concert catered to fingerstylists, the Grand Auditorium was designed to deliver on both fronts. If you want a great all-purpose guitar, the multi-dimensional Grand Auditorium wonÎt let you down.
The Taylor 214ce boasts a bookmatched Sitka Spruce soundboard with TaylorÎs ¥XÕ bracing. As a Sitka Spruce grows in a coastal "pocket" from Northern California to Alaska. This dense, straight-grained wood has the highest strength and elasticity-to-weight ratio among available tonewoods, an attribute that makes it an ideal material not only for soundboards, but for internal bracing, as well. Sitka produces a slightly brighter tone than does Engelmann. The back and sides are crafted from layered Indian rosewood which presents a beautiful aesthetic in a durable, affordable package.
The slim taper neck is carved from Sapele, which is denser and harder than mahogany. You will love the ease and playability of the fast, thin profile of this neck and 20 fret ebony fingerboard. The cutaway body design of the Taylor 214ce allows you to access the upper register notes for when youÎre reaching for a little extra in your soloing.
When itÎs time to plug in and hit the stage, the Taylor 214ce features the Expression System Transducer, or ES-T, is a single-source, under-saddle transducer with individual elements for each string. The ES-T has an onboard preamp and features a custom-voiced EQ with a simplified volume, bass, and treble control layout. The system is powered by a 9-volt battery, with a battery life LED power indicator. The pickup also has a Phase switch for feedback control, which is located on the preamp board inside the soundhole. The Taylor 214ce is equally at home on stage, in studio, or the front porch. A Deluxe Taylor Gig Bag is included.
