About This Listing

The classic Kay electric, the K-573 Speed Demon. With it’s single sharp cutaway and three Kay “speed bump” pickups these guitars really shine for gritty blues

The neck is made of poplar with a full-feeling ‘C’ profile and a bound Indian Rosewood fingerboard. It has the original Kluson tuners and brass bushings. The truss rod cover is missing but the rod works and the guitar has a new bone nut.

The body is laminate maple finished in a dark nitrocellulose sunburst and bound in celluloid. It has three speed bump pickups and the neck pickup was rewound while the other two are original. The rest of the wiring is all original. It has a replacement bridge which is stamped “japan” on the bottom and probably came from a Matsumoku instrument. The tailpiece is original and the guitar, surprisingly, has all the original knobs.
