------------------------------
This is a 1953 J-45, the face of the Gibson flat top. This is one of the most popular early 50's models. Spruce top, mahogany sides and back, mahogany neck, hacaranda fingerboard and bridge, small beckon pattern cell pickguard, changed from triple Kluson pegs to 3Per Side pegs, single ring rosette, 19 total frets, scallop bracing. At this time, the bright area in the center of the guitar becomes wider, and the color shifts to sunburst with bright impression. The sound is uplifting, and you can enjoy all the good things about the early 50's. The rough-hewn sound is the most typical Gibson sound of this era, and it's also quite loud. There is a crack on the neck, but it has been fixed and does not affect use. The body and neck have been thinly over-lacquered in the old days, but there are some scratches and weather-checks all over the body, so it doesn't affect the dry tone. There is a 6cm thin scrape on the top string side body edge, but it is not a crack. The airy sound of the scallop bracing can only be experienced on instruments up to 1955. This guitar has an energetic sound with boomy bass and lightness. The ones from this era are very popular not only in Japan but also in the U.S., and good ones are hard to find anymore. If you want to play rough strokes, this one is for you. Please feel free to contact us for other details.
