About This Listing

Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome..

This is a 1st generation (1950's era) Electro Voice 644 dynamic microphone known simply enough as the "shotgun mic" due to it's unusual and obvious appearance. This piece has been thoroughly cleaned and tested and comes with the newer cast iron desk stand that compliments the mic nicely.

It should be noted that this mic has been tested and has a non-working dynamic element so it should be used for display, prop or repair purposes only.

The original polished chrome body on this 644 is in very good shape overall as seen in the pictures provided with a few scuff marks, small scratches and a spot of road rash in the finish but zero pitting, dents or fractures. There is a small engraving just about the switch that shows the # 6. I would rate the cosmetic condition an easy 7 on a scale of 1 - 10 and one of the nicer examples I have personally seen. The larger polished chrome mics usually show much heavier wear. The front screen has no deformation or tarnish and the joint mechanism works perfectly.

The on / off switches works just as it should and slides smoothly but again, this 644 is currently non-working and should be used for display, prop or repair purposes only.

The E.V badge and top rear label both look very nice. Threads for both the stand and cable are excellent.

The stand is a newer Chinese model with a heavy cast iron base providing a stable platform for the E.V 644 model mic. The stand has original paint that's free of any scratches, chips, or rust. The 4 inch chrome riser is in very nice shape as well as the 5 original rubber pads on the bottom. The total height with the mic fully raised plus the stand is 17 inches. The mic can be lowered of course.

A very cool accent piece and mid century Americana that will draw attention anywhere it's displayed.

Due to the extremely heavy weight of the items shipping will cost a bit more than usual for international rates but domestic isn't too bad.

As with all my other vintage microphones...

I can promise you will be happy with it for the price paid. If not...I have a no hassle return policy. The return shipping will be on you as I believe that's fair but the purchase price would be refunded. Simply return in the same nice condition...period. Check my rating. International buyers are welcome as well. BUYER MUST PAY WITHIN 24 HOURS or will lose rights to this item, unpaid item report will be filed and will be re-listed. If you don't intend on buying not commit to buy please. Domestic buyer will get priority shipping.

If you have any questions feel free to ask and...thanks for looking.
