1987 Charvel Model 6 - 1802 Customs Kahler Pro Mod -  Made in Japan, hot-rodded in FLA.

This is the granddaddy of them all.

Somewhere In Time, back when hair bouffants were louder than a Marshall JCM800 on a 8x12 full stack, back before there was a 'Jackson USA Select SL1',  an 'ESP Mirage M-III', or a 'Kramer Focus', there was the Charvel Model 6. This is the masterpiece over which massive corporations started major litigation actions.  Corporations literally went to 'war' over this guitar. Often described as 'The Holy Grail', this is Wayne Charvel and Grover Jackson's original think piece - the original SuperStrat.  Often imitated, but never duplicated, and after decades of engineering, the greatest luthiers on the planet still cannot make it better than the original and best.

I am the second owner of this guitar, which serves as my backup tour guitar for Chemical Warfare, only out-shined by my ESP Kiso Hanneman, and only because it's Slayer. '6' never sees any use. I have kept '6' in a climate-controlled, smoke-free environment for 15 years. Chemical is going on perfunctory hiatus - 'mission accomplished'. This was a nostalgia purchase, was going to be used in several different startup projects, and has been kept racked in my air conditioned, non-smoking home studio or case queening in the hallway closet. The 13-year-old in me is finally at peace, I'm not a collector, and now with this model taken as far as possible as a pro-mod "collector's item ready for tour", I'm looking to move on to some more personal applications.

The original frets are factory fresh, and have maybe 100 hours of total playing time on them. The original owner played this very lightly in a 'worship band' back in the 90's, and cased it 'after a few sessions' as he put it. I played one show with '6' back in 2013 before my Hanneman arrived, and I have done a few short recording sessions with it. I may have added 4 hours of fret time to it over the last 15 years. Finish is still glossy mirror on the body and headstock with some dust rag 'swirling' on the body, and one minuscule pock mark behind the bridge, which was there when I bought it. Aside from slight fading of the black on the pickup switches, this guitar is in 'new old sock' condition, with barely any swirl on the body finish. The JT-1 die-cast bridge knife bolt stud pattern would not allow for a German Floyd installation.  The original bridge studs are still installed, visible, and accessible should anyone wish to re-install an original JT-1 bridge.

1802 Customs Pro Mod hardware upgrades include Kahler Signature "Kerry King" bridge.  The original die-cast JT-6 'clamp' nut has been updated/upgraded to stainless F3 with stainless rockers and bolts. The bridge installation and nut upgrade was completed by legendary luthiers "The Guitar Factory" in Orlando, FL. Fretboard and neck have been speed-matted, and you can see your reflection in the fretboard and on the neck back. Speed matting stops at the joint heel. The frets are freshly polished to custom shop grade, strings are fresh GHS Boomer 52-10, and setup is currently at D#.

The original grey "CHarveL" 'chainsaw case' was dilapidated by sunlight exposure in original owner's possession, and has fallen apart.   I will ship '6' in a hallway-friendly Roadrunner soft shell case, and include Kahler hex wrenches and OEM truss rod wrench.

Please ask any question that you may have before buying.   Shipping cost is estimated; differential will be refunded to buyer.

International duties are the responsibility of the buyer, and will be due at pickup of the package.  Local pickup is encouraged, and any shipping charge at initial transaction would be refunded at pickup.  Any additional photos supplied upon request. '6' is in excellent condition, chomping at the bit to get out on the road, and I want you to feel completely comfortable with this purchase.   That is how we do business at The Metal Shop, and we are proud of our 5-star vendor rating.

Please PM with any offers. 'Accept offers' has been deactivated due to auto-bid issues.

Thanks!
