About This Listing

Pro Mod 1802 Customs Charvel Model 6 - 1987 Made in Japan

This is the grandaddy of them all.   Before there was a 'Jackson USA Select SL1', there was the Charvel Model 6.  Often described as 'The Holy Grail', this is Wayne and Grover's original think piece, the original SuperStrat.  Often imitated, but never duplicated, and after decades of engineering, the greatest luthiers on the planet still cannot make it better than the original and best.

1802 Customs Pro Mod includes Kahler Signature Kerry King bridge, as the JT-1 bridge stud pattern would not allow for a German Floyd.   Original nut was JT-6.    Bridge installation and nut upgraded to a titanium F3 replacement completed by legendary luthiers The Guitar Factory in Orlando, FL.   Frets are freshly crowned and polished to reflection grade.   Fretboard and neck have been speed-matted, and you can see your reflection in the fretboard and on the neck back.  Active Bartolini hum bucker in the bridge position was installed by original owner.   Original JS-1 pickups are in middle and neck positions.   Original Charvel Mid Booster is active and profound.

Schaller S-Locks are mounted on it now, but I can put USA Select strap buttons in the color of your choice on it before shipment if you prefer.   Finish is still glossy mirror on the body and headstock.   Speed matting stops at the joint heel.    Aside from slight fading of the black on the pickup switches, this guitar is in 'new old sock' condition, with barely any swirl on the body finish.

The original chainsaw case was badly dilapidated by sunlight exposure damage in original owner's possession.   I will ship this in a Jackson OHSC from a USA Select Jackson Soloist with all of the Kahler wrenches and original truss rod wrench.

I am the second owner of this guitar.    I have had this guitar in a climate-controlled environment for 12 years.   This was a nostalgia purchase, and has been kept in a case in my air conditioned, non-smoking home.  The original owner played this very lightly in a church band  back in the 90's, and had it cased for decades.     I played one show with this guitar, and have done a few recording sessions with it.    I may have put 4 hours of fret time on it.   I use this guitar to back up my Custom Hanneman in Chemical Warfare, and it never sees any use.   I'm not a collector, and now with this as a collector's item, I'm looking to move on some more personal applications.    Any additional photos supplied upon request.   This is in mint condition, and I want you to feel completely comfortable with this purchase.   That is how we do business at The Metal Shop.

Please ask any question that you may have before buying.   Shipping cost is estimated; differential will be refunded to buyer.   International duties are the responsibility of the buyer, and will be due at pickup of the package.  Local pickup is encouraged, and any shipping charge at initial transaction would be refunded at pickup.
