This is a Gretsch Model "A" tenor banjo from around 1935, I think, serial number 207 on the dowel. Cast metal body, mahogany resonator and 2-piece neck, 19 frets, 23" scale, 11" pot, fancy shell headstock inlay and fret markers, celluloid binding, original friction tuners. Some damage to the metal pot and a crude but stable repair to a break at the heel performed years ago. New Fiberskyn head and D'Addario Irish Tenor (12-36) strings. Renovated vintage Vega hard case. Loud, throaty tone great for Irish melody playing.
