Marantz 170DC: A power amplifier of exceptional quality, with great sound!
The Marantz 170DC, produced in Japan in 1977 during the “Golden Era” of Japanese audiophile equipment, is a high-fidelity stereo power amplifier with exceptional sound. The amp is built to the high standard that has made the Marantz name famous for fantastic amplifiers The circuits of this amp was designed to eliminate Transient Intermodulation (TIM) Distortion in particular. It features a completely independent symmetrical arrangement (similar to the Marantz 250), with a pure complementary OCL parallel push-pull three-stage Darlington composition. The First stage is a low-noise dual FET differential amplifier with a cascode bootstrap circuit. Temperature and time drift in the DC amplifier are suppressed and DC conversion is stable. This amp also features a protection circuit similar to the Marantz P510M,Which will protect the amp as well as connected speakers. The sound is excellent, and the build quality is clearly superb, as expected from Marantz and Japanese products from this era.
This unit is in very good condition (please see photos), with some expected signs of age, including some scratches, scuffs and some yellowing. It has been thoroughly tested and checked by our professional in-house technician, confirming its flawless working quality.
