We love vintage catalog guitars from the 60s and 70s, their style and vibe more than make up for any of their shortcomings in quality. This little Norma bass is a perfect example. With an offset body shape like a Mosrite, a decorated pick guard, and a beautiful three color sunburst, it a feast for the eyes. The controls: a single pickup, volume, tone, and bridge that allows for adjusting the string spacing, are a study in simplicity.
Norma branded guitars were sold at Strum and Drum in Wheeling, Illinois owned by Norman Sackheim (NORMAn, get it?). They imported instruments from Asia from 1965 until the mid 1970s.
This bass dates to the 70s and was made in Korea. It's a 3/4 size, with a 25" scale length and an overall length of only 37.75" which makes it a fun little player or perfect for a kid to begin with. The body is thin and the entire guitar only weighs 5 lbs. 10 oz. It has a bound rosewood fingerboard with 20 medium frets (including the zero fret) that sits on a deep C-shaped one-piece mahogany neck topped by a Fender shaped headstock with closed tuners. It has been professionally set up and sports a new set of flat-wound strings. It's in very good original condition, it seems to have spent most of its life in its original box (included). It's free of dents, dings, significant scratches, buckle rash or other cosmetic defects. The only real condition issue of note is the pickguard which has losses at 4 of the 5 corners from someone over-tightening the screws (how you do that more than once is beyond me) and there is a small spot where the plastic has a bubbled texture. Otherwise, this is a minty little bass.
It will be professionally packed and shipped with care. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.
