As a new official seller of Avalon guitars, (official website to go live very soon), I'm going to be having some very exciting guitars for sale and this is the first of them.

This is one of the first guitars made in 2021 in the Newtownards 'Avalon' factory, (previously the 'You Know Who' Guitar Co. Ltd :), and it arrived to me less than a week ago now, so is hot out of the factory and is an absolute cracker!
If you know anything about Avalon you'll know that they have been making some incredible guitars for a very long time now. All handmade and hand finished to perfection by some of the finest master acoustic guitar luthiers around, including incredible head luthier Balázs Prohazskha and highly sought after finisher Stevie Graham. Seriously, these guys are world class and highly under-rated in my opinion.

This is an Ard Rí A2-390C with a pick of the bunch Sitka Spruce top, rounded cutaway and an out of this world Exhibition grade Ziricote back and sides.
It has some incredibly flamed Australian Blackwood bindings and the purflings on top are Ebony, Sycamore, Ebony, Mahogany, Ebony, Sycamore, Ebony. On the back and sides it has ebony and sycamore purflings taking you into some of the most awesome Ziricote I have ever seen on a guitar. Check out the back on this thing for a 'thing of beauty'.
The end pin wedge is flamed Australian Blackwood again with a sycamore purfling and it has an ebony strap button in place until say a pickup is installed in the future.

It has the 5 piece Ard Rí neck. The neck is carved by hand from solid reclaimed Mahogany with a central stripe of Fenland Black Oak bordered with Sycamore to form a stable 5-piece laminate.
It is topped with an Ebony fingerboard and for comfort, bound with Ebony with a thin Sycamore purfling highlight. It has a marbled ebony headstock faceplate and comes with gold Gotoh SG381 tuners with ebony buttons.
It has a Pau Pau Abalone Soundhole rosette with ebony, sycamore and ebony surround and it has a split saddle ebony bridge with ebony bridge pins with Mother of Pearl.

The dimensions are as follows:
Auditorium: Large Bout - 406mm Small Bout - 300mm Waist - 252mm Box Length Incl heel - 520mm
Total Length - 1030mm Depth - 120mm Nut Width - 44mm Neck Width at 14th - 56mm Scale Length - 468mm

As I said this is brand spanking new and has only been removed from it's fitted Hiscox case to make sure everything is in order and to strum a few chords on. It's still got that lovely, just out of the factory, hint of lacquer smell and the limited lifetime warranty will be written out in the buyers name.

Sound wise, this thing does not disappoint! Ziricote is quite a dense hardwood so the first thing you notice when picking up this guitar is the substantial weight that Ziricote brings over a standard lighter wood, like say Mahogany. This, Cocobolo and African Blackwood all have that feel and it is in no way detrimental to the sound it delivers. It's perfectly well balanced and offers an almost 3D quality to the sound. In fact this is one of the best sounding guitars I have ever heard from straight out of the factory. It just sings and is so punchy and direct. It's no surprise that Richard Thompson chooses to use Ziricote over any others. It's just a thick but never muffled sound it delivers and is great for both strumming and fingerpicking. Plus it looks incredible too!
I'm running this with a whopping 30% discount and this is a complete one off guitar which you won't find elsewhere and trust me, you won't be disappointed when you get it in your hands. New list price with the Exhibition grade back and sides and cutaway is £5500, (£300 for the cutaway and £250 for the Exhibition Ziricote on top of the base Ard Rí Ziricote price of £4950)
