About This Listing

This is a nice Kay Mandolin, probably from the 1960's. Has the letters and number 839  N-1 and L 1694. Brazilian Rosewood bridge & bass. Original tuners and nut. String height is good and bridge can come down. Pretty clean low wear instrument, but has some scratches on the top and some white paint rub on the side. This will need to be set up to play at an optimum, as do all instruments. I am not a mandolin player, and can not say how it plays. Includes a new set of strings still in the wrapping. No case, but will be very well packed for shipping, I will most likely double box it for safe travel. Kay did not make instruments of the quality of Martin or Gibson, they were lower tier instruments. Buyers need to be aware of this if they think a Kay is a professional grade instrument. This still seems like a good example of what it is, but some buyers expect a race horse at a pony price. Shipping is an estimate, contact me with your zip & I can give you a better estimate.
