1990 PEAVEY VANDENBERG PINK QUILT TOP

Extremely rare 1990 Peavey Vandenberg Pink Quilt Top.

All original parts.

Comes with original case.

Serial Number: 00004908

Only 6 to 8 Pink Quilts known to exist in the world.

Making the Pink Quilt the most rare, non-one-off, Vandenberg of all.

Note: The Pink Custom (only 2 known to exist) is more rare, but these two might have been custom order one-offs, because there are only two known to exist, and each is made with a different type of fretboard wood, implying possible custom-order preference of the buyer.

This guitar is arguably in mint condition.

No visible dings or scratches.

The plastic factory film is still on both rear compartment covers.

There is still, what is possibly a factory inspection sticker, on the rear body, which says, “PV1053."

The guitar is from an auction of the estate of Larry Hilt, a record producer and instrument designer/builder.

I think this guitar was left in its case for decades.  Either on purpose, or forgotten about.

The strings were completely slack.  There was an old pack of guitar strings left inside the case with an old dot-matrix-printed price tag on it.

I did not want to disassemble and do a deep cleaning on the guitar, but it can be even more brilliant and mint-looking, when someone decides to.  All the metal hardware could probably use a good polishing to look perfect.

The finish and quilt top just glows with inner-luminance.

The intensity of pink color depends on how the light hits it.  It can either look light pink or really pink.

It looks so new; it feels like a time machine.

All the frets were perfect, with little, if any wear or age, except one fret.

Someone, in the past, had made a small string-dent in that particular fret.  The string would sometimes catch in
the dent, when you did a note-bend.  This might be the reason it was not played for a very long time.  The previous
owner maybe never got around to replacing the fret.

I had that one fret re-fretted.
I had the other frets very lightly re-dressed (polished), to match the new fret’s patina.

The luthier that did this work’s name in Peter Skermetta, based in Austin, Texas.

He’s one of the best luthiers in the business.

Peter was a master builder at James Tyler for years, making Dann Huff guitars, among other models.

Peter was also a master builder at Fernandes, installing custom sustainer systems for Eddie Van Halen and Steve Vai.

The list of famous guitarists he’s done work for is impressive, to say the least.

He also re-setup the action and balanced the tremolo with new strings.  Ready to play.

Needless to say, the work is flawless and seamless.

I highly recommend him.  Here is his webpage:

It plays beautifully.  The best guitar I’ve ever played.

Butter action.  Perfect balance.  Incredible tone.

I already have a mint Pink Vandenberg S1, and the difference is noticeable.

While it pains me to sell the guitar, there are other guitars I want more.

Please, only serious inquiries.  The people that will buy this guitar know its value and rarity.

The last two Pink Quilts sold for $5,000 and up, each, years ago.

Respectful communication only, please.

Reasonable offers are welcome.

I am available to video chat and show the guitar online, so that all questions can be answered.

I can also show the guitar in person, if you desire.

I am willing to ship the guitar, and will pack it like it’s rare china, but that will be your risk and you will probably want
to buy shipping insurance.  The guitar is neck-through, so that always makes shipping more risky.

Pickup in the Austin area is preferable.  Willing to possibly drive further to meet in the middle someplace else.

Either way, it’s your choice how you want to receive the guitar.

If this is the last Vandenberg you need in your collection, don’t take the chance.

The other top Vandenberg collectors that have a Pink Quilt are known to rarely part with anything.

The Pink Quilt is so rare, it might not come up again.

This could possibly be the last available one, and it’s in virtually-perfect condition.

I hope it finds a great home!
