What this amp is good at:
The simple answer is that this amp is REALLY good at getting RIDICULOUSLY LOUD.
The more in-depth answer is that this amp is extremely dynamic. If you want the honest truth from a working musician, this amp is really made tailored to give you the most bang for your buck. I’ve run it indoors on half-power mode with a 1x12 speaker and played jazz gigs next to a baby grand, and I’ve also wheeled out the half stack and played outdoor gigs where it held its own on stage against a Mesa.
The clean channel gets plenty loud, and for the most part, I really only used the clean and the crunch channels, but right about 7-8 on the Master Volume and the right gentle touch go the gain knob gets you that incredible-sounding round sweet tone of a lightly breaking up tube. Slap on a compressor and crank the volume on your single coils and this thing becomes the blues driving beast of your dreams.
If you're into metal, sweeping, and getting those ripping clean highs of your favorite melodic death metal band, then you can look no further. This bad boy does it at low volumes, and with any proper Marshall, the louder you get, the better it will sound.
It’s also a tank. With solid construction, this amp really feels road and gig ready. Sure, it’s got some weight and girth to it, but it’s the right amount to achieve your rock-god goals on a budget.
