About This Listing

Player-Grade vibe machines!

If you've put your hands (or sticks as it were) on a set of vintage mahogany drums, you know there's nothing in the world that sounds like them! The soft, pillowy low end and warm sustain transport you to a time when drums were still thought of as a melodic instrument. These Slingerlands are no exception!

As you can see from the photos, the cosmetic condition is good, not great. The wraps are in mostly good shape, but do have the type of wear you'd expect to see in 60-year-old drums. The hardware is similarly worn and not all original: the bass drum T-rods are mismatched (different sets on the batter side/reso side) and the claw feet don't appear to be original either. Also un-original is one of the bass drum hoops, though the decorative inlay on both hoops (as well as the painted finish) is severely worn/missing in spots. The interior of the bass drum shell bears many scars, though the date stamp still clearly reads "May 11, 1961."

The tom is, from what we can tell, a match to the bass drum. A slight curiosity is the difference in screws—the bass drum uses flathead screws, while the tom uses philips (Drum companies were notorious for using whatever they had laying around, so we aren't too worried about it. Still, something to be aware of before you hit the "buy" button). The wrap and hardware are in similar condition to the bass drum, but there doesn't appear to be anything un-original here. The interior of the tom is in much nicer cosmetic shape than that of the bass drum, though it's important to note that both appear to be structurally sound.

We haven't torn these drums apart or replaced any hardware or heads, so these drums will arrive to you as-is. As always, shipping is free within the continental United States!
