About This Listing

MORE HI RES PHOTOS AND DEMO VIDEOS AT THE GUITARSMITH WEBSITE ONLY

Here for sale is a rare 1970's Epiphone ET-270 in a gorgeous Cherry Burst made famous by Kurt Cobain of Nirvana on the Bleach era of the band. This guitar has been set up for right handed play. The guitar has also been upgraded with sturdy tuners, a vast improvement on the originals and have cool looking stars on the back of them.

Other notable players include Billy Idol who has used these live and in music videos. The guitar is a bit like a Strat Gibson SG hybrid and has a very distinct sound and produces other worldly feedback when cranked up. Check out the Nirvana Live at Pine Street Theatre in Portland Oregon on the Sub Pop Bleach reissue to hear this guitar wailing away in all its glory. The guitar has one volume one and one tone control, and a bass boost switch for extra bass enhancement and a three way selector switch in a convenient location on the bottom of the pick guard. All the electronics are workings they should. The guitar was previously used by a left handed player and has an extra hole in the lower horn where the strap button was previously, the strap button is now back in the right handed position.

The guitar has some other interesting features such as the bass boost switch to give some more welly and nice retro control knobs that are period correct but may not be original. The handy knob position was used to great effect by Cobain on Bleach track 'Big Cheese' Where you can hear him fading the intro chords using the volume knob which is very easy to access with your lower fingers on this guitar. The guitar was made in Japan. The guitar is in good condition for its age, with the odd chip or ding but this just gives it more rock 'n' roll character. There is slight ding on the back of the neck but this doesn't affect playability. The pickup surrounds have some small chips and the lower pick up had split but has since been securely glued back together. An all around great guitar that looks bad ass and sounds fantastic. Just love this finish!

Please note all guitars are sold as seen. Attention international buyers, if the guitar was made in your country and you purchase it from us in Europe, it means the item is considered “Returning to Origin” and you do not need to pay import tax. We try our best to show the guitar’s condition in the photos but this is not always possible for every detail. Each guitar is set up to the shop standard playing style and as we all know; each player is different. If it is not set up to your liking this is not a cause for complaint, as is finding some kind of imperfection that we may or may not have mentioned. We sell used guitars not museum pieces and we do not accept returns unless they have been damaged in transit. If you are looking for a perfect guitar that you will worry about damaging and hang on the wall we advise you to buy new! So be rock n roll! lml
