About This Listing
This is a Gibson Mastertone banjo we believe to be from the 70’s. This is a stunning banjo with great action, tone, and tuning stability. The inlays appear to be all hand laid and the back appears to be rosewood. Beautiful herringbone inlays on the neck and the back.
It does appear to have been altered on backing where the neck joins the body- we believe it was converted from a tenor to a 5 string. The repair is stable and does not effect playability. There are “railroad spikes” - tiny pins in the 5th string area on the fingerboard to allow for a capo. There are also some dings near the tuners, but nothing to worry about.
