AKAI MPC 4000

Once word got round that there was a 'red' Linndrum floating around.. hell broke loose.. everyone wanted custom drum machines. Essentially, Michael Jackson started this craze, but Forat spearheaded the movement. Years later.. here we are and now Bruce's client list includes everyone from Kanye, to Dr Dre... lil Jon, just to name a few.

So, sadly, I am putting up my prized Bruce Forat customized MPC4000 on the market.
The shell has been 'chromed', it's quite spectacular and feels great to work on.

This unit includes the 8-analog output board, the effects board, max'd out @ 512Megabytes of physical RAM.
250Gigabyte SATA Hard Drive, CD R/W.

Needless to say, the MPC4000 was the last of the purebreds before Akai Pro was acquired by Numark in 2004.
Capable of managing very high sample rates, unbelievable for back in 2002.. up to 24bit / 96kHz!
It can sample directly off a record player - it has 'phono' inputs + ground cap.
It has a USB drive.. you can load WAV files easily from your computer.
It has a CD-drive.. you can rip audio from audio CDs & Burn audio to CD! FYI: A fully blown 4000, back in 2002.. cost $10,000!

It's a BEAST! Built-in Hard Drive.. robust XLR inputs / outputs
SCSI port (for older hard drives / zip drives)
2 MIDI-inputs / 4 MIDI-outputs
(optional) digital I/O and ADAT I/O
Best thing is.. they're rock solid and they feature the renowned swings of it's predecessors.

This one, is in showroom condition.. apart from a few small scratches on the rear
where the rear connections are, this unit reigns supreme.

I have a few MPCs.. the newer ones.. the older ones.. and another non-custom 4000..
In my honest opinion.. the 4000 is the best.. it sounds big, it copes with anything
AND if you have an older MAC or PC (32bit) you can install the AkSys software which
allows you to connect your computer up to the 4000 via USB, and this gives you a tonne of
additional features.. like audio transfer back and forth from your computer.. AND.. you can edit sounds
via the user interface.. but, the 4000 is so easy to use.. you barely need to go down that road.

I can't even begin to tell you about the 'synth' inside.. it has a very powerful internal synth
engine.. even the latest MPC X pales in comparison. More on that here...
