Here at Junior's we have searched the world for the best guitars and gear.   This offering is no exception and a wonderful piece of music history and a killer setup. @juniorsvintageguitars

Description:
An amazing and ultra rare 1962 "Dwight" Coronet - all original.  It is a featherweight at 5lb 8oz.  It comes with its matching Epiphone Devon EA-35 amp with Dwight labeling and its original yellow lined case embossed with a placard of its original owner's last name.   An ultra rare setup and should likely be in a serious collection or a museum.  These don't come up often and was planned to be in Junior's vault for a long term stay.   However, we decided it should get it into the right owner's hands who will play and love it.

Its unfaded Cherry finish is vivid and the body has some minor nicks and dings throughout but no structural issues.   The Dwight logo looks great and is a real treat to see in person.

The original pick guard is still here with the “D” badge. It has shrunken (normal), with some curvature up near the neck join, as part of this shrinkage one corner of the pick guard has a small split. The shrinking of the pick guard is typical for a guard almost 60 years old.

These Dwight branded Coronets were built along with their Gibson/Epiphone counterparts in Kalamazoo.  Same killer P-90 setup as a Jr and Coronet except for one key change, no tone pot.   In its place is a 2-position switch for setting 1 being a bass type "dark circuit" (think Tele) and setting 2 being for a bright all out bridge pickup that rips.   There is of course a volume knob just like a normal Coronet.   Having the 2-position switch is a cool setup and definitely provides a different and amazing setup for tone chasing.

A word on Dwight....this was the house brand of Sunny Shields Music in East St. Louis.  It is said the owner George "Sunny" Dwight Shields contracted with Gibson to build these guitars for his guitar school.  Picture of a student class is attached.

It is said they built less than 75 of these.  Who knows how many have survived...  To find them with their matching Epiphone "Devon" amp is even rarer.

The amp is a killer sounding Fender Deluxe killer and has an amazing sounding 12" Jensen.   Reference the Epiphone EA-35 Devon amp with 6V6 power tubes.  Amp has had some minor service of caps etc and retains the majority of its original circuitry including its transformers.

This guitar is currently fitted with a Mojotone locking stud "Lightning" bridge for better intonation.  The locking studs allow the bridge to move back further keeping it flat and holding intonation.   The original lightning bridges were known to tilt when the bridge moved further back.

The guitar plays well with its original frets, though some day could maybe be refretted for optimal playability.  At Junior's we opted to keep it original with no irreversible changes.   The original bridge and studs will be provided in the case.

Please let us know if you need more information.   Don't miss out on this opportunity,  these are simply not readily available and deep in collections of famous players.  Steve Marriott from Humble Pie is known to have played a "Dwight" branded Coronet.
