Fender Squier JV Series Stratocaster in Olympic White with maple neck.
Serial number JV56575. The serial number puts it at late 1982/early 1983. The almost-illegible writing on the neck heel says 9.8.82 (I think, take a look at the pic). I’ve also included some shots of the pickups, pots and the factory-issue five-way switch. Some Squier aficionados will glean more info from them than I ever could.
As far as I know, the pickups are USA-made Fender. The tremolo arm isn't in the pictures, but it's all present and correct.
When I bought this guitar, about 12 years ago, I didn't really need another Strat, but this one played so well and was so resonant that I took the plunge. It "spoke" to me.
If you're reading this, you probably know how good these JV Squiers are. But just in case you don't, they're rated as highly as any guitar wearing the Fender decal. They were made in Japan. The early 1980s was a golden era for guitar manufacturing in Japan. As a result, instruments like these are highly prized and sought after. This is an Export model I brought over from England. The EX stamp in the neck pocket confirms this.
This is a beautiful guitar, but because it's actually been used on gigs, it has a couple of dings here and there. I do my best to look after my gear, but sometimes stuff happens. I've tried to capture them with my phone camera.
The great guitarist Albert Lee heard me play this guitar. Afterward, he complimented me on my sound (didn't say anything nice about my playing, but hey, at least he liked my sound).
$1,100.
