Next, we're digging into the Echosex 2 from Gurus Amps. The Echosex uses a real tube in order to pay tribute to the legendary Binson Echorec, along with several other nods to both standard features as well as wear and tear. No two Echorecs are alike, but they all share one thing: a real tube preamp circuit which is faithfully recreated. Because Echorecs are mechanical, different parts wear out at different rates, and each one has an inherent modulation due to wear. The Echosex 2 takes care of this with its innovative Age of Damage knob, which replicates a worn-out rubber part inside the original. Turning this knob adds more virtual wear to the rubber, which gives a rich modulation to the delayed signal. An EQ points to Bass or Treble to govern the tone of the repeats, which are shaped with Echo and Length of Swell controls. Recessed DIP switches on the side set the input and output levels to either 0dB or -10db to +4db, and give the option to let the repeats continue after the pedal is bypassed. Each Gurus Echosex 2 is built into a stunning enclosure with an etched backlit faceplate, and is handmade with love in Italy.
