This is a 1998 Gibson 1958 Les Paul Reissue from the highly regarded “Good Wood Years” of the 1990s. This particular model is a YCS (Japan Yamano Custom Shop) version, a high-quality specification produced exclusively for Gibson’s Japanese distributor, Yamano Music. Many players believe that the materials and craftsmanship of these Japan-only YCS models surpassed those of the U.S. domestic versions of the same era, making them rarer and more desirable in the Western market.It features a classic Iced Tea Burst finish paired with a wild 4A flamed Killer Top, a mahogany body, rosewood fretboard, and a 1958 neck profile. It comes equipped with the original ’57 Classic PAF pickups, with all parts fully stock and unmodified.The overall condition is excellent, approximately 95%, there is a very small finish imperfection on the top as shown in the photo; otherwise there are no particularly noticeable marks. The frets show no wear, and the guitar remains impressively clean, almost unbelievable for a 28 year old guitar. It also includes the original checklist, tags, and all accompanying documents with matching serial numbers.Les Paul Reissues from the 1990s hold an important place in the history of the reissue lineup, and due to their superior wood quality and striking tops, they are highly sought after by players and collectors alike.
